About
Ion exchange resin is an insoluble polymer compound with functional groups (active groups that exchange ions), network structure. Pore structure is divided into gel type and macroporous type. Those with physical pore structure are called macroporous resin. If the classification is acidic, "cation" should be added before the name, and if the classification is alkaline, "anion" should be added before the name.
Perfluorosulfonic acid resin is the strongest known solid super acid, with good heat resistance, chemical stability and high mechanical strength. As a green solid acid catalyst, perfluorosulfonic acid resin has good catalytic activity and selectivity for many reactions.
Perfluorosulfonic acid resin is generally obtained by copolymerizing perfluorovinyl ether monomer with sulfonic acid group and tetrafluoroethylene to obtain perfluorosulfonic acid resin. Due to the introduction of the most electronegative fluorine atom into the molecule, a strong field effect and inductive effect are generated, so that its acidity increases sharply. Compared with liquid super acid, when used as a catalyst, it is easy to separate, can be used repeatedly, and is less corrosive, causes less pollution, has good selectivity, and is easy to be applied to industrial production.

1, A base titration procedure measures the equivalents of sulfonic acid in the polymer, and uses the measurement to calculate the acid capacity or equivalent weight of the pure polymer.
2, Thermogravimetric Analysis was performed to test the decomposition temperature. The polymer were placed inside a furnace and heated from room temperature to 600 C at a heating rate of 10 C/min.
Hot melt processability of perfluorosulfonic acid resin:
The perfluorosulfonic acid resin is usually extruded into a film after being heated to a molten state (generally the temperature is controlled between 160-230 C). The perfluorosulfonic acid resin, which is the main matrix material of the perfluorinated ion membrane, must have properties that can be melt processed. Only perfluorosulfonic acid resins with terminal groups are suitable for melt processing. The group itself has no ion exchange function, and it is easily converted into a group by reacting with an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution.
Thermal stability of perfluorosulfonic acid resin:
The perfluorosulfonic acid resin has good thermal stability, and it can remain stable for a long time at a temperature of about 200 C. The initial decomposition temperature refers to the temperature at which the quality of the material begins to change as the temperature rises in the heated state, and the initial temperature of the perfluorosulfonic acid resin is mostly above 310 C.
Application:
perfluoro sulfonic acid ion exchange resin is used as the materials of ion exchange membrane, the fuel cell membrane, the ion exchange membrane for vanadium battery, the ion membrane for a chlor-alkali industry, the hollow fiber membrane, the super acid catalyst used in organic synthesis, the super stable ion exchanger, and the like are reprepared in various electrolysis apparatuses.
